Quick Release June 2, 2010 David J. Starr (Glenshaw, PA) The only problem I encountered on instalation was to place a shim under the mounting plate so the handle can be installed and removed to secure the trolling motor.
Great, but one glitch! Okay 2 glitches. May 24, 2010 Thaddeus A. Lewand The bracket works great. Minn Kota could have improved it by having a little more tolerance in the holes that receive the handle assembly. If they don't line up perfectly, MKota says to drill them out to make them bigger. Also ticked me off that they make you buy an entire assembly when all you need for a 2nd boat is the mounting puck.
I called them about this and got nowhere.
Love the mount, hate the handle December 14, 2009 James R. Davis IV (Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this quick release mount for about 3 years now, and actually bought an extra plate to mount on my other boat so I can swap the troll motor from one to the other.
The handle with the stainless pins has always been a tight fight, but with a little tugging and pushing I am always able to get it after a few minutes. Unfortunately, today when I put the motor on my boat and started to push the handle through, the plastic handle broke right in the middle. I didn't realize there wasn't metal all the way through the handle until that moment, and because there is a big hole drilled through the middle of the plastic part, there are two thin areas of plastic on top & bottom. This is a weak point, and unfortunately you cannot just buy a replacement handle.
I would have given the mount 5 stars except for this defective design with the handle, and no replacement available for purchase. I can probably fix this myself or jury-rig some sort of replacement, but it's disappointing to say the least.
Great Product August 13, 2009 Anthony E. Steffins The qiuck release mount was the answer to my need for a little more room when I am using my boat as a ski boat. It was a little tight when first mounted, but as the mounting instructions said, opening up the locking handle holes cured this problem easily.
Minn Kota Quick Release Bracket October 1, 2008 tbar2000 (Georgia) I received this bracket free with my Minn Kota V2-68 Pontoon trolling motor. It's a great idea, is easy to mount with 4 bolts (included) and is easy to use. The problem is that it isn't fully stable. When I crank up my trolling motor to full speed, I get vibration, particularly when I am trying to turn. The only way to eliminate the vibration is to reduce throttle or to go "straight" (which still leaves a hint of vibration) As we use our pontoon boat as a party boat and as a fishing rig, the easy removal of the trolling motor is probably more important than having to reduce throttle - so I expect to continue to use it. I'm disappointed that the quality of the bracket isn't as good as the trolling motor..
