| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Wooden lures have many characteristics that separate them from plastic lures. First, and most obvious of all, they are made from different materials. Plastic lures are injection molded and mass produced. This means that every lure of the same model has the same shape, density, and action. Wooden lures on the other hand are a whole different species of lures. Unlike plastic lures which can be made through injection molds and mass produced, each wooden lure has to be handcrafted. Handcrafting means that no two lures will be exactly the same, a definite plus for any fishermen.
On top of each wooden lure being different due their being handcrafted, every wooden lure is also distinct because of the fact that no two pieces of wood are ever identical. Unlike plastic, wood never has a uniform density so no two wooden lures will ever be the same simply due to the nature of wood.
Our wooden lures at Born-To-Fish are made of a unique wood that is just starting to catch fire in the fishing lure industry: Paulownia. Some of you may have already heard of the name as the wood is already used for surfboards, guitars, and the cores of lightweight touring skis. Paulownia is a very light, fine-grained, soft, and warp-resistant; making it the ideal material for fishing lures. For all you environmentalists out there, Paulownia is also very eco-friendly as well. Paulownia trees are very fast growing and can be harvested for timber in as little as five years. In fact, many have dubbed Paulownia the phoenix tree for its remarkable rejuvenative properties.
Lastly and most importantly, wooden lures have better action than their plastic counterparts. Plastic lures wobble more readily and possess a very erratic action. All plastic lures either have a tight wiggle or an exaggerated one, but wooden lures top this by being able to dart and dive when retrieved.
